Japan’s crude steel output falls in 2005
The
Japan Iron and Steel Federation disclosed that the country's crude steel
production fell 0.2 percent year on year to 112.47 million metric tons in 2005.
Despite the year-on-year decline, crude steel
production recorded the fourth-largest volume last year due to the consistent domestic demand.
In December alone, crude steel
production fell 5 percent year on year to 9.09 million metric tons.
In 2005, the special steel products output for use in automobile and machinery sectors rose 4.1 percent year on year to 24.55 million metric tons. On the other hand, ordinary steel products output fell 1.4 percent year on year to 87.92 million tons.
