Italian industry turnover drops down in January

According to ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office, in January this year Italian industry turnover was down 4.9 percent month on month and 4.4 percent year on year.

In January, on month-on-month basis, the seasonally-adjusted turnover index in Italy declined 8.5 percent for instrumental goods, 4.7 percent for intermediate goods, three percent for consumer goods and 2.5 percent for energy.

With regard to total orders for Italian industry, in January this year there was a month-on-month decrease of 7.4 percent and a year-on-year fall of 5.6 percent.

In the last three months for which figures have been released (Nov-Jan), the average Italian industry turnover index value was down 1.6 percent, while the average Italian industry order index was down 2.9 percent, both compared to the previous three-month period.
