Italian industry orders and turnover trend upward in August

According to ISTAT, Italy's national statistics office, in August this year Italian industry increased its turnover by four percent month on month and by 12 percent year on year.

In August, on month-on-month basis, the seasonally-adjusted turnover index in Italy increased by 6.4 percent for capital goods, 4.6 percent for intermediate goods, 2.7 percent for consumer goods and a 0.3 percent increase was registered for the energy sector.

Compared to August 2010, the strongest performances in Italian industry in August this year were observed in machine building, up 24.5 percent, and coke and products based on refined oil, up 20.5 percent.

With regard to total orders for Italian industry, in August this year there was a month-on-month increase of five percent and a year-on-year increase of 10.5 percent.
