Italian industrial output sales prices down in May from April

According to Istat, Italy's national statistics office, in May this year industrial production sales prices in Italy decreased by 0.3 percent compared to April and were up by 2.2 percent year on year.
 
In May, the prices of industrial products sold in the local market were down 0.3 percent month on month and up 2.3 percent year on year, while the price index of products sold in foreign markets showed little variation compared to April (+0.2 percent in the euro area and -0.2 percent outside the euro area) and increased by 1.6 percent year on year (+1.1 percent in the euro area and +2 percent outside the euro area).
 
In the first five months of the year, all indexes rose year on year both for domestic sales (+2.8 percent) and euro area sales (+1.6 percent) and also for non-euro area sales (+2.7 percent).

In the field of metals and metals product (excluding equipment and machinery), in May Istat posted month-on-month variations in sales prices of -0.3 percent in the domestic market, +0.1 percent in the euro zone and -0.7 percent outside the euro area, and respective increases of 2.4 percent, 5.8 percent and 3.0 percent on year-on-year basis.
