Turkey's largest steelmaking group Eregli Demir ve Celik Fabrikalari TAS (Erdemir) has announced that on June 6 its Iskenderun-based subsidiary Iskenderun Demir ve Celik A.S.(Isdemir) decided on a lockout pursuant to Collective Labor Agreement and Strike and Lockout Act Law No. 2822.

Since the parties could not come to an agreement during the collective labor agreement negotiations carried out between the Celik-Is Union and Isdemir management for the period from 01.01.2011 to 31.12.201, the union leaders had announced a strike in the workplace in question as of May 30, 2011.
