India's industrial production down 1.8 percent in Oct

In October this year, India's industrial production decreased 1.8 percent year on year, according to government data released on December 12. Industrial production in the April-October period this year remained unchanged year on year.

Production in India's manufacturing sector decreased by two percent in October compared to the same month of the previous year, while in the April-October period the Indian manufacturing sector saw a 0.3 percent year-on-year drop in output.
 
The industrial output index in India's basic metal sector in October this year decreased by three percent compared to October 2012, while the output index for fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, fell by 4.5 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the April-October period the output index for basic metals fell by 2.7 percent, while the output index for fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, declined by 7.2 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.
 
On the other hand, output of the industry segment of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers declined by 13.7 percent year on year in October.
