India's basic metal output up 2.2 percent in February

In February this year, India's industrial production decreased by 1.9 percent year on year, according to government data. Industrial production in the April 2013-February 2014 period of the current financial year decreased by 0.1 year on year.

Production in India's manufacturing sector decreased by 3.7 percent in February compared to the same month of the previous year, while in the April-February period the Indian manufacturing sector saw a 0.7 percent year-on-year drop in output.
 
The industrial output index in India's basic metal sector in February this year increased by 2.2 percent, while the output index for fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, fell by 4.2 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Meanwhile, in the April-February period the output index for basic metals fell by 0.6 percent, while the output index for fabricated metal products, except machinery and equipment, declined by seven percent, both compared to the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
 
On the other hand, the output of the industry segment of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers declined by 9.4 percent year on year in February.
