German crude steel output falls another four percent in September

In September this year Germany's crude steel output amounted to 3.31 million metric tons, increasing by 4.2 percent year on year and down 4.06 percent as compared to the previous month, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). In May, Germany's crude steel output attained its highest monthly volume recorded this year; however, the country's steel output has been falling on month-on-month basis ever since.

Meanwhile, in the January-September period of this year Germany's crude steel production reached 32.97 million metric tons, rising by 45.5 percent as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

According to WV Stahl's statement, in the third quarter of this year the capacity utilization rate in the German steel industry stood at 84 percent.

On the other hand, in August this year, Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 2.97 million metric tons, up by 14.2 percent, including 2.1 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 16.4 percent, and 871,000 metric tons of long steel products - up 9.1 percent, all compared to August 2009.
