Germany’s crude steel output down 5.4 percent in May

In May this year, Germany's crude steel output decreased by 5.4 percent to 3.71 million metric tons compared to the same month of 2014, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). Meanwhile, in the January-May period, the country's crude steel output decreased by two percent year on year to 18.38 million metric tons.

On the other hand, in April this year, Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 3.21 million metric tons, indicating an increase of 5.1 percent, including 2.07 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 3.8 percent, and 1.14 million metric tons of long steel products - rising by 7.4 percent, all on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, in the first four months of this year, the country's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 12.86 million metric tons, indicating an increase of 3.4 percent, including 8.34 million metric tons of flat steel products - up 1.4 percent, and 4.53 million metric tons of long steel products - increasing by 7.4 percent, all compared to the same period of 2014.
