Germany's crude steel output up two percent in October

In October this year, Germany's crude steel output increased for the second straight month year on year, rising by two percent to 3.76 million metric tons, and also increasing by 4.15 percent compared to September, according to the information provided by the German steel federation Wirtschaftsvereinigung Stahl (WV Stahl). The year-on-year growth in October was just the second increase on year-on-year basis in the last eight months Also in October, the capacity utilization of German steel producers rose to 88 percent from 85 percent in September, and was 83 percent for the January-October period of the current year.
 
In the first 10 months of the year, Germany's crude steel output decreased by 1.7 percent year on year to 35.512 million mt. On the other hand, in the given period Germany's total hot rolled steel product output amounted to 27.507 million metric tons, decreasing by 1.1 percent year on year, including 17.814 million metric tons of flat steel products - down 2.5 percent year on year, and 9.69 million metric tons of long steel products - up 1.6 percent year on year.
