Georgia's semi-finished exports to Turkey double in January-May

In the first five months of the current year, Georgia's total external trade turnover with Turkey, which is the top trading partner of the country, totaled $775.813 million, including exports of $88.26 million, up 33.02 percent, and imports of $687.56 million, up 35.46 percent, both on year-on-year basis, according to the data provided by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

In the first five months, semi-finished products of iron or non-alloy steel ranked first among Georgia's exports to Turkey, amounting to 36,109 metric tons, up 101.04 percent year on year. Meanwhile, the value of these exports totaled $17.33 million, up 108.04 percent year on year. Exports from Georgia to Turkey of the semi-finished products in question had only amounted to 17,441 metric tons in the same period of 2013.
