Turkey's steel billet imports down 34.8% in October from September

In October this year, Turkey's billet and bloom import volume increased by 20.42 percent year on year to 168,973 metric tons, but decreased by 34.76 percent compared to the previous month, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The value of these imports totaled $94.07 million, up 19.2 percent year on year and decreasing by 33.46 percent compared to the previous month.

Meanwhile, in the first 10 months of this year Turkey imported 2.41 million mt of billet and bloom, down 0.51 percent, with a value of $1.3 billion, decreasing by 3.2 percent, both year on year.

In the first 10 months, Turkey imported 1.26 million mt of billet and bloom from Ukraine, 0.94 percent higher year on year, with Ukraine ranking first among Turkey's main billet and bloom import sources, ahead of Russia which supplied 798,650 mt in the given period, down 0.61 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in October this year Russia was the leading source for Turkey's billet and bloom imports, supplying 73,792 mt, up 4.54 percent year on year.
