EU finished steel imports up 18.59 percent in May over April

According to the European Steel Association (EUROFER), in the month of May this year flat steel imports into the European Union (EU-27) reached 1.198 million mt, while EU-27 long steel imports amounted to 255,000 mt. Accordingly, overall EU finished steel imports in May totaled 1.454 million mt, up 18.59 percent month on month and down 30.66 percent compared to the same month of 2011.

In the first five months of the current year, finished steel imports into the European Union totaled 6.21 million mt, down 33.98 percent year on year.
