The Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) has announced that its order made on January 10, 2003 concerning hot rolled carbon steel plate imported from China, South Africa and Russia is scheduled to expire on January 9, 2008. Under the Special Import Measures Act (SIMA), findings of injury or threat of injury and the associated special protection in the form of antidumping and countervailing duties expire five years from the date of the last order of finding, unless an expiry review has been initiated before that date. Interested persons and governments requesting or opposing the initiation of an expiry review should submit their petitions not later than March 30, 2007. The CITT will issue its decision on April 25, 2007, on whether an expiry review is warranted. If there is no request for a review, the CITT will not initiate a review and the finding will expire on its expiry date.
