On November 12, 2008, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT) initiated an expiry review of its affirmative findings made July 30, 2004, concerning the dumping of certain stainless steel round wire originating in or exported from South Korea, Switzerland and the US, and the subsidizing of such products originating in or exported from India.
Accordingly, the CITT commenced an investigation on November 13, 2008, to determine whether the expiry of the findings was likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping or subsidizing of the goods.
The investigation has now been completed and, on March 12, 2009, the CITT has determined that the expiry of the 2004 findings is likely to result in the continuation or resumption of dumping of the goods from South Korea, Switzerland and the US, and the subsidizing of such products from India.
A statement of reasons containing additional details concerning the determination will be issued within fifteen days.
The CITT will conduct an inquiry to determine whether the expiry of the 2004 finding is likely to result in injury or retardation to the Canadian industry, and will make its decision by July 29, 2009.
