China's National Development and Reform Commission is currently working with the relevant government departments on a detailed stimulus plan for the domestic shipbuilding industry, which is expected to be made public soon.

The fundamental principles of the stimulus plan are to encourage credit lending for the purpose of maintaining shipbuilding orders and relieving financial risks, to develop marine engineering equipment, and to implement a development strategy to make China into a leading shipbuilding power. Within the coming three years, China is targeting a total dead weight tonnage for its shipping of 50 million and also a 30 percent share in the global market.
