The municipal authorities of Chengde in China's Hebei Province have requested local steelmaker Chengde Iron and Steel, a subsidiary of Hebei Iron and Steel Group, to restrict its crude steel output to 580,000 mt during the period from September 10 to December 31, 2010, which means the company's crude steel output will be cut by 70 percent for the period in question. Meanwhile, the electricity consumption of Chengde Iron and Steel in September is not to exceed 61.64 million KWh.

Meanwhile, the Hebei provincial authorities have stated that the prices of electricity and water will be further increased for industrial sectors including electrolytic aluminum, ferroalloys, calcium carbide, caustic soda, cement, iron and steel, phosphorus and zinc smelting.
