In April this year, the output volume of Great Britain's construction industry decreased by 0.8 percent month on month, following a month-on-month increase in March, and rose by 1.5 percent compared to the same month of the previous year, constituting the 23rd consecutive month of year-on-year growth, according to a report released by the UK-based Office for National Statistics (ONS). In April, new work rose 1.6 percent, while repair and maintenance decreased by 4.8 percent, both month on month.
New construction orders in Great Britain in the first quarter of this year were estimated to have increased by 0.4 percent compared to the previous quarter and by eight percent compared to the same period of 2014. In the first quarter, new construction orders in infrastructure increased by 18.6 percent, new construction orders in private sector industry was up by 6.1 percent, while new orders for new housing and all other work increased by 1.2 percent and 0.1 percent, respectively, all on quarter-on-quarter basis.
