Argentina’s crude steel output up 9.8 percent in January

According to the data released by Argentina's chamber of steel, in January this year Argentina's crude steel output amounted to 396,800 metric tons, falling by 12.8 percent as compared to the previous month of December and up 9.8 percent year on year.

In January, Argentina's total hot rolled steel product output decreased by 35.9 percent month on month to 271,400 metric tons, while a 29.6 percent decrease was recorded on year-on-year basis, including output of 114,400 metric tons of hot rolled flat steel products - down 49.1 percent month on month, and 157,000 metric tons of long steel products, decreasing by 21 percent compared to December 2011.

The country's cold rolled flat steel product output in January fell by 9.9 percent month on month to 113,500 metric tons, down 9.1 percent as compared to January last year.

In 2011, Argentina's crude steel production totaled 5.61 million metric tons, increasing by 9.2 percent year on year, hitting an all-time record output level.
