Over the past week, a few Turkish merchant bar re-rollers have increased their export offers by $20/mt on the lower end to $620-640/mt FOB, amid ongoing currency fluctuations and costlier import scrap and billet. Currently, official ex-Turkey equal angle offers are mostly standing at $620-640/mt FOB, for November-early December shipment. Most international buyers are exerting pressure for further discounts, while the lower end is only valid for serious buyers depending on the tonnage and region.
The SteelOrbis daily Turkish billet import reference price stands at $500-520/mt, rising by $5/mt on the lower end over the same period. A few inquiries are on the table from Africa and Europe, while demand in the Middle East is moderate. In addition, inquiries for small tonnages have been received from the Balkan region, though Turkey is having difficulties giving competitive prices to the Balkans due to its higher production costs
