Over the past two weeks, expectations have increased among finished steel buyers in the global market for a decline in prices, since international scrap prices have started to decline and as the downward movement of import scrap prices in Turkey has gained momentum since last week. As a result, demand for Turkish merchant bar in the export markets has remained slack, while Turkish mills’ merchant bar export prices have declined by $35/mt over the past two weeks.

Turkish merchant bar export prices are currently at the following levels:

Price ($/mt)

Angle

440-450

IPN-UPN

450-460

Flat bar

460-470

IPE

All prices are on FOB basis and for January shipment.
