Over the past week, Turkish official domestic merchant bar prices have mainly remained unchanged in the local currency, while down $4/mt on US dollar basis amid the ongoing currency fluctuations. Only one Iskenderun-based mill has issued its official merchant bar price at TRY 16,700/mt ($590/mt) ex-works today, up TRY 100/mt and unchanged on US dollar basis over the same period.
Most merchant bar sellers are offering either for November delivery, or from stocks. A few re-rollers are also offering their HEA/HEB (550-700 mm, standard) at TRY 23,700/mt ($838/mt) ex-works for delivery in the Karabuk region, rising by TRY 100/mt, with minor changes on US dollar basis, SteelOrbis has heard.
Most local buyers are maintaining a wait-and-see stance ahead of the announcement of new electricity and natural gas prices due tomorrow, November 1.
