According to market sources, billet prices in the Turkish domestic billet market have remained stable since last week at $525-545/mt ex-works. Meanwhile, the ongoing supply shortage in Turkey's Iskenderun region has prevented prices from declining below the level of $545/mt ex-works, while this week an Iskenderun-based steelmaker has sold billet to the local market though in small volumes at $545/mt ex-works for prompt shipment.
Demand in the domestic billet market is on the high side, while local mill Kardemir is expected to open its local billet sales as well, after the rebar sales opened on April 18 by the mill. Kardemir had closed its previous billet sales after receiving demand for 72,000 mt of billet in total. The mill had opened its sales for S235JR grade (St37) billets at the level of $517/mt ex-works, excluding VAT, and had also opened its sales for MT III-A grade billets at $522/mt ex-works, excluding VAT.
Meanwhile, Turkey's billet export offers have indicated no changes over the past week, remaining at $530-540/mt FOB.
In addition, CIS billet offers to Turkey can be found in the range of $515-525/mt CFR.
