In the given week, average steel plate prices in China have softened and overall transaction activity has been at low levels due to the decreases in ferrous metal futures prices and slack demand from downstream users. Bearish sentiment prevails among traders and some of them are willing to lower their prices in order to sell. Today, February 6, the second trading day after the Chinese New Year holiday, some traders are back in the market, but are just resuming communication with their customers instead of concluding actual transactions. More traders are expected to return to the market after the Lantern Festival (February 11). It is thought that steel plate prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely move sideways in the coming week.
