During the week ending September 23, pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) quotations in the Chinese domestic market have continued their stable trend, while transaction activity in the domestic market has been at low levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, domestic steel enterprises have faced pressure to increase their PPGI prices due to rising material costs, whereas, on the other hand, in light of slack transaction activity in the market, traders have mostly pursued large shipment volumes instead of increasing their prices, despite September traditionally being part of the peak season for business. It is thought that PPGI prices in the Chinese domestic market will likely indicate just slight fluctuations in the coming week.
