In the Italian domestic flat steel market, prices have remained unchanged again this week. Accordingly, hot rolled coil (HRC) base prices are at €520-530/mt ($686-700/mt), cold rolled coil (CRC) base prices are at €590-600/mt ($779-792/mt), while hot dip galvanized (HDG) coil prices are at €570/mt ($752/mt). All prices are ex-works.
While demand is still very weak, service centers are now trying to recover a margin of €20-30/mt on material delivered in May. Next week it should be clear whether their attempt has been successful. In the meantime, market players consulted by SteelOrbis speak of very low supply levels and a lack of variety in choice.
On the import side, activity is still almost at zero levels amid current uncertainty and the lack of attractive offers.
