During the week ending May 6, pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) quotations in the Chinese domestic market have indicated various trends, with price rises seen in thick specifications, and price declines in thin specifications, while transaction activity has slackened somewhat though it still remains at decent levels. Average PPGI prices in the local Chinese market are presented in the following table.
During the given week, since some PPGI materials have been in short supply, some traders have increased their offer prices. However, some other traders have decreased their offer prices to reduce risk from high inventory as they have started to receive delivery of PPGI products previously booked for May delivery. Meanwhile, demand for PPGI from downstream users has been slack. Following previous sharp rises, PPGI prices have reached relatively high levels. It is thought that PPGI prices will likely indicate a slight downtrend in the coming week.
