Turkish auto exports largely made into EU countries in 2004
Turkish automotive sector, regarded as the locomotive of Turkish economy, materialized its exports of 72% to the 24 member states of European Union (EU) in 2004. No exports were made to Greek Cypriot side, but the market share of the automotive sector amounts to 74.4% when candidate countries Romania and Bulgaria were added. In 2004, Turkish automotive sector exported to a total of 180 countries in the five continental, self-governing territories and 14 free zones as well as developed western countries, according to the data of Uludag Exporters Union (UIB). The $7.71 billion of the total automotive exports of $10.71 billion was obtained from the EU countries. Among the EU countries, exports to Germany, France, Italy and England exceeded the half of the total exports with $5.34 billion.Turkish auto exports largely made into EU countries in 2004
