Turkish automotive exports largely made into EU countries
Turkish
automotive sector, which became the locomotive of Turkish economy, materialized its exports of 71.7% to 24 member states of European Union (EU) in the first eleven months of the year.
No exports have been made to Greek Cypriot side, but the market share of the
automotive sector amounts to 74% when candidate countries
Romania and
Bulgaria were added.
In Jan-Nov 2004 period, Turkish
automotive sector exported to a total of 178 countries in the five continental, self-governing territories and 14 free zones as well as developed western countries, according to the data of Uludag Exporters Union (UIB).
The $6.78 billion of the total
automotive exports of $9.46 billion was obtained from the EU countries. Among the EU countries, exports to
Germany,
France,
Italy and England exceeded the half of the total exports with $4.74 billion.
