Russian export to Middle East in 2005
The total volume Russian Federation export of steel products decreased 6.78 percent year on year to 49.19 million tons in 2005. The main importers of the Russian products in 2005 were the countries of Middle East and Asia, to portion of which was fallen more than 52 percent. The leading importers of Russian steel products in 2005 were Turkey, Iran and Egypt. Russian exports of metal products to Turkey decreased 3.3 percent year on year to more than 7.43 million tons in 2005, but the export revenue for the same period grew 5.9 percent, exceeding the mark of $2 billion. On the sum of 2005, Turkish companies imported 3.795 million tons of scrap, 1.814 million tons of semi finished products, 1.285 million tons of flat rolled products, 324,500 tons of pig iron, 104,100 tons of long products, 68,800 tons of iron ore, 41,800 tons of ferroalloys and 1,800 tons of other steel products from Russia. The total export to Iran rose, on the other hand, 24.8 percent year on year to 3.59 million tons and accounted for more than $1.23 billions of export revenue in 2005. Thus, in 2005, Iranian companies imported 1.603 million tons of semi finished products, 1.004 million tons of flat rolled products, 985,000 tons of long products and only 1,900 tons of scrap from Russia. Russian exports to Egypt at the same period grew more than 76 percent to 956,100 tons mainly due to an increase in export deliveries of semi finished products, the volume of which rose by 182 percent. Thus, in 2005, Egyptian companies imported 676,400 tons of semi finished products, 213,900 tons of scrap, 33,300 tons of long products, 30,900 tons of flat rolled products and 1,600 tons of other steel products from Russia.
