Voestalpine issues record Q1 financial results

Austrian steel producer Voestalpine has announced record financial figures for the first three months of 2007/2008 financial year ending on March 30, 2008.

The revenue of the company increased 14.8% to €1.96 billion ($2.69 billion) from €1.71 billion ($2.35 billion) year on year.

During the first quarter of 2007/2008 financial year, Voestalpine's net profit rose to €242 million ($332 million) from €153 million ($210 million) - up 58.1%, over the same period of 2006.

According to the press release issued by the company, the record financial figures for the first quarter of 2007/2008 financial year were achieved due to continuing high demand and a good and stable price level.
