US weekly raw steel production, week ending July 24, 2010

On Monday, July 26, the American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) reported that for the week ending July 24, 2010, US domestic raw steel production was 1,742,000 net tons while the capability utilization rate was 72.0 percent. This indicates a 38.8 year-on-year increase from the same period in 2009.
Adjusted year-to-date production through July 24, 2010 was 50,064,000 tons, at a capability utilization rate of 70.7 percent. This reflects a 61.3 percent increase from the 31,052,000 tons during the same period last year, when the capability utilization rate was 44.6 percent.
Broken down by districts, the production for the week ending July 24, 2010 in thousands of net tons is as follows: Northeast Coast: 122; Pittsburgh/Youngstown: 132; Lake Erie: 42; Detroit: 128; Indiana/Chicago: 410; Midwest: 241; Southern: 586 and Western: 81.
