US CRC imports down 11.2 percent in September

According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of cold rolled sheet totaled 87,019 mt in September 2023, down 11.2 percent from August and down 15.4 percent from September 2022 levels. By value, CRC imports totaled $98.5 million in September 2023, compared to $114.2 million in August and $146.8 million in September 2022.

The US imported the most CRC from Canada in September, with 38,808 mt, compared to 43,921 mt in August and 43,821 mt in September 2022. Other top sources of imported CRC in September include Mexico, with 10,664 mt; South Korea, with 9,787 mt; Turkey, with 6,460 mt; and Brazil, with 6,310 mt.
