Ukrainian traders’ steel product purchases up 13.9 percent in Jan-Feb

According to the data issued by the Ukrainian Association of Metal Traders, in January-February 2010 Ukraine's steel trading companies increased their steel product purchases by 3.9 percent year on year to 164,775 mt, including 151,363 mt from local mills and 13,412 mt of imports.

Accordingly, the main domestic suppliers of steel products to Ukrainian trading companies were ArcelorMittal Kriviy Rih, Zaporizhstal and Azovstal, with the deliveries in January-February 2010 amounting to 31,890 mt, 28,548 mt and 26,972 mt respectively.

During the first two months of 2010, according to the purchased volumes, the leading Ukrainian steel traders were Metinvest-SMC (61,339 mt), Ukrainian Mining and Metallurgical Company (UGMK) (26,149 mt), and MD-Group (18,901 mt).

In February 2010, Ukraine's steel trading companies increased their steel product purchases by eight percent month on month to 85,583 mt, including 78,846 mt from local mills and 6,737 mt of imports.
