Ukrainian crude steel output expected to rise in April

According to Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in April this year Ukraine's crude steel production will reach 2.88 million mt, up 16.9 percent compared to February.
According to Metallurgprom's forecast, pig iron output in Ukraine will total 2.460 million mt in April, up 13.2 percent, while production of rolled steel in the month is expected to be 2.580 million mt, up 17.5 percent, compared to February.

In the first two months of the current year, Ukraine registered a 10 percent decrease in its finished steel product output to 4.745 million mt, a five percent decrease in its crude steel output to 5.283 million mt, and a one percent rise in its pig iron production to 4.647 million mt, all compared to the same period of the previous year.

In February alone, Ukraine produced 2.464 million mt of crude steel - down 12.6 percent, 2.174 million mt of pig iron - down 12 percent, and 2.195 million mt of rolled steel - down 13.96 percent, all on month-on-month basis.
