Industrial Union of Donbas Corporation (IUD), one of the biggest steel companies in Ukraine that controls number of steel producing plants, among which is Alchevsk Iron & Steel Works, considers leaving semi finished metal products market and selling only finished metal products. IUD officials justify the decision by saying that since the Corporation owns the plants which produce semi finished products; it has to specialize only in finished metal products by using semi-finished products at its own mills, rather than selling those products. Thus, if the main products of IUD are crude steel, semi finished for long and flat rolled products, cokes, pipes and sheets, now IUD should supply to market only pipes, sheets and other finished metal products, leaving semi finished for its own use, the officials say.
