Ukraine to produce 36 million mt of steel in 2012

The Ukrainian parliament has forecast 3.8 percent growth in dometic pig iron production in 2012 compared to the expected results for 2011, increasing to 30 million mt. Production of steel is predicted to increase by 3.4 percent year on year in 2012 to 36 million mt. Output of coke and coal in Ukraine in 2012 may fall by 7.7 percent to 18.1 million mt, while production of iron ore and iron ore concentrate may rise by 0.8 percent to 79.9 million mt, year on year.

In the January-November period of this year, Ukraine produced 26.503 million mt of pig iron, up 6.2 percent compared to the same period of last year. The country's production of steel went up by 7.1 percent year on year to 31.824 million mt during the first 11 months of 2011.
