Ukraine sees 28 percent drop in new motor vehicle sales in Jan-May

According to the data issued by the Ukrainian Motor Vehicle Manufacturers Association Ukrautoprom, in January-May this year the country's sales of new passenger cars, commercial cars and buses went down by 28 percent year on year to 73,122 vehicles. In particular, the sales of passenger cars decreased by 37 percent to 54,056 units, the sales of buses dropped by three percent to 979 units, while the sales of commercial cars went up by one third to 5,948 units, all compared to the same period last year. 

According to Ukrautoprom, the most popular brands in sales of new passenger cars in the period in question were VAZ (14.5 percent), Hyundai (8.4 percent), and ZAZ (8.3 percent), while the car which recorded highest sales was ZAZ Lanos - almost 3,000 units. The leaders of the market of new commercial cars were GAZ (21 percent of sales), Opel (14.9 percent), and ZAZ (9.4 percent).
