According to the preliminary data issued by the Ukrainian association of metal producers Metallurgprom, in the first seven months of the current year Ukraine registered a 12 percent increase year on year in its finished steel product output to 16.709 million mt and a 13 percent rise in its crude steel output to 18.764 million mt.
In January-July this year, Ukraine saw an 11 percent increase in its pig iron production to 15.872 million mt and an 8.5 percent growth in its coke output to 10.698 million mt, both compared to the same period last year. In addition, during the period in question the country's production of steel pipes went up by two percent year on year to 913,800 mt, while its output of hardware increased by 22.9 percent year on year to 151,200 mt.
In its iron ore segment, in January-July this year Ukraine mined 44.987 million mt of iron ore - up 31.1 percent year on year. Its iron ore concentrate production increased by 30.1 percent to 37.21 million mt, its agglomerate production went up by 14.8 percent to 22.74 million mt, while its pellet production rose by 20.5 percent to 13.116 million mt, all compared to the data for January-July 2009.
