Russia issues January 2011 output results

According to the data released by the Russian Federation's Federal State Statistics Service, in January 2011 Russia produced 4.9 million metric tons of finished steel products - up 12.2 percent, 819,000 metric tons of steel pipes - up 30.5 percent, and 4.1 million metric tons of pig iron - up 2.8 percent, all compared to January 2010.
 
In addition, in January 2011, the country registered a 2.9 percent increase in its coal mining output and an 8.4 percent rise in its iron ore concentrate output year on year. The respective figures in metric tons were 27.3 million and 8.3 million. Russia's January output of metallurgical coke went up by 1.8 percent year on year to 2.3 million mt.
 
Overall, the increase in industrial production in Russia in January 2011 amounted to 6.7 percent compared to January 2009.
