According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in the first eight months of this year the value of
Turkey's iron and steel imports stood at $12.2 billion, decreasing by nine percent compared to the corresponding period of 2012, while its imports of articles of iron or steel amounted to $1.82 billion, up by 22.7 percent year on year.
In August this year,
Turkey's iron and steel imports totaled $1.3 billion, decreasing by 10.6 percent year on year and down 19.1 percent compared to July this year. Iron and steel ranked third among the most imported products of the country in the given month. Meanwhile, in August the country's imports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked 16th among the products with the highest import value, were up 8.4 percent compared to August 2012 and decreased by 20 percent month on month, amounting to $217.1 million.
