Turkey's steel import value down 25.3 percent in January

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in January this year the value of Turkey's iron and steel imports decreased by 25.3 percent year on year, totaling $1.23 billion, falling 14 percent compared to December 2014.

In the given month, the country's imports of articles of iron or steel amounted to $189.22 million, down by 9.8 percent year on year and decreasing 16.3 percent month on month. In January, iron and steel ranked fourth among the most imported products of the country in terms of value.
