Turkey's steel export value down 24.7 percent in January

According to the provisional foreign trade statistics compiled by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) and the Turkish Undersecretariat of Customs, in January this year Turkey's foreign trade deficit decreased by 37.5 percent to $6.88 billion compared to January 2014.
 
In January, Turkey's iron and steel exports ranked fifth among the country's products with the highest export value, totaling $599 million, down by 26.6 percent from December last year and down 24.7 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in given month the value of exports of articles of iron or steel, which ranked eighth among the products with the highest export value, decreased by 23.2 percent month on month and was down 15.3 percent year on year, amounting to $449.2 million.
