Turkey’s scrap imports down slightly in January-November

According to the report released by the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), in the first 11 months of 2014 Turkey's scrap imports decreased by 0.3 percent to 17.78 million mt, while these imports were valued at $6.72 billion, down 1.1 percent, both on year-on-year basis.

In the first 11 months In the same period, Turkey's scrap imports from European countries increased by 1.1 percent to 9.56 million mt, scrap imports from the US contracted by 23.2 percent to 3.73 million mt, and scrap imports from CIS countries increased by 52.6 percent to 3.45 million mt, all on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, in parallel with the 1.7 percent decline in Turkey's crude steel output in the given period, Turkey's scrap consumption decreased by 3.7 percent year on year.
