Turkey’s exports up in January 2005

Turkey's exports rose 7.6% to $5.3 billion in January, according to the Turkish Exporters Assembly (TIM). Exports were $4.67 billion in January 2004. TIM data show that during the February 2004-January 2005 period, exports increased 31% to reach $64.37 billion. Turkey's January industrial sector exports rose 6.7% to $4.31 billion. Ready-to-wear and clothing exports, which account for the largest share of industrial products, dropped 10.1% to $1.89 billion. Automotive sector exports rose 36% to $943.7 million in January. Automotive exports were recorded as $695 million in the same period of last year.
