Tonghua Steel to commission 2,680 cubic meter BF at end of Sept

Jilin Province-based Chinese steelmaker Tonghua Iron and Steel Company (Tonghua Steel), a subsidiary of Shougang Group, has announced that it expects to commission its 2,680 cubic meter blast furnace No. 2 at the end of September of the current year. The blast furnace will be able to produce 2.20 million mt of pig iron per year.

Following the restructuring of Tonghua Steel by Shougang Group, Tonghua Steel's current annual output capacity of crude steel has reached 6 million mt. The agreement for the restructuring had been signed in July 2010.
