ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe, the European steel division of Germany's biggest steelmaker ThyssenKrupp, announced on July 26 that it will introduce short-time working from August against the background of continuing weak orders.

The company stated that the short-time working has been agreed between ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe and its works council. The introduction will affect the locations Duisburg-Hamborn, Duisburg-Hüttenheim, Bochum, Dortmund and Siegerland, while the Finnentrop location has initially been excluded from short-time working.

ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe expects that short-time working will have to be continued until the end of the year. Currently affected by the temporary adjustment measures are the cold rolling and coating areas and parts of the hot rolled processing operations.
