Three Gorges Quantong commissions first phase of super thin galvanized project

Hubei-based Chinese steelmaker Three Gorges Quantong Galvanized Sheet Co. has commissioned the first phase with an annual capacity of 3.2 million mt of its super thin galvanized sheet project.

Construction started on the project on February 28, 2009, with the first cold continuous rolling unit being commissioned after only six months. The first phase, in which the total investment was RMB 5.4 billion ($798 million), will produce hot galvanized sheet, galvalume sheet, coated sheet and high grade color coated laminated sheet. Meanwhile, the second phase of the project, which is under construction currently, will be commissioned in May 2011. The second phase will have an annual capacity of 4 million mt.
