According to the statistics released by the Taiwan Ministry of Finance, Taiwan's iron and steel exports in October amounted to $1.45 billion, increasing by 23.3 percent, while its metal product exports totaled $794.7 million, up 20.4 percent, both compared to September 2009.
Meanwhile, in October, Taiwan increased its iron and steel imports by 33.1 percent to $1.0.1 billion and its metal product imports came to $1.03 billion, up 43.8 percent, both compared to the same month last year.
On the other hand, in the January-October period of this year Taiwan's iron and steel exports stood at $13.5 billion, increasing by 34.6 percent, while its metal product exports rose 38.2 percent to $7.87 billion, both compared to the corresponding period of 2009.
In the first ten months of this year, Taiwan's iron and steel imports were up 75.9 percent, totaling 10.25 billion, while its metal product imports stood at $9.84 billion, climbing by 67.2 percent, both compared to the January-October period of 2009.
