Taiwan’s iron and steel export value increases 32.9 percent in 2010

According to the statistics released by the Taiwan Ministry of Finance, Taiwan's iron and steel exports in December amounted to $1.42 billion, increasing by 23.5 percent, while its metal product exports totaled $833.3 million, up 21 percent, both compared to December 2009.

Meanwhile, in December, Taiwan increased its iron and steel imports by 20 percent to $1.09 billion, and its metal product imports came to $1.01 billion, up 32 percent, both compared to the same month last year.

On the other hand, for the whole year, Taiwan's iron and steel exports reached $16.38 billion, increasing by 32.9 percent, while its metal product exports rose 35.1 percent to $9.51 billion, both compared to the previous year.
 
In 2010, Taiwan's iron and steel imports were up 63.2 percent, totaling 12.43 billion, while its metal product imports amounted to $11.93 billion, climbing by 57.5 percent, both compared to 2009.
